First, a big “hello” to you. And thanks for visiting.
My name is Brian Jones. Yep. Just like the Rolling Stones guitarist. (...my parents rocked pretty steady.)
I was born and raised in Chicago. I've spent just about every minute of my professional life in advertising. All on the creative side.
Right now, I'm the creative director at Jacobs & Clevenger.
Before that, I was the creative lead at a start-up based in Palo Alto.
It proved to be an amazing experience and weirdly similar to the HBO series, "Silicon Valley" — right down to the hoodies.
Still not sure which character I was, though.
And before that, I helped launch a boutique agency here in Chicago. It grew from six employees (me being #6) to 85. Eventually, it sold to TransUnion.
But it all started right out of college when I answered an ad in the Chicago Tribune. It said "So, you think you're a copywriter? Prove it." I got the job. Next thing I knew, I was working on the coolest account in town — Harley-Davidson. It's been one big rolling thunder ride ever since.
In my free time, I'm either sketching, playing guitar, making photographs, playing hockey, or writing some kind of story.
In fact, a few years back, I co-created the iPhone app series “Buddy the Bus.” In its first year, Buddy was used in one of Apple’s national advertising campaigns. They also featured his App Store icon in their retail stores nationwide and on their website.
And for a few glorious weeks, in Germany, Buddy ranked higher than "Das Kapital" by Karl Marx. (There's my 15 minutes.)
Anyway, when I'm not in "create" mode or checking book rankings, I'm usually at the ice rink with my hockey-crazed son.
